I need to face facts: juggling this biz, working 60 hours a week at a crazy job, and spending time with my family is proving difficult. Updating the blog is one thing that's fallen off my priorities. Thanks to all the great families who I've been fortunate to work with over the last year! Here is a sampling of what I've been up to:

Alright, alright...I have a copy of James Taylors' Greatest Hits and had to say it. This little guy belongs to my cousin and her husband. I wish I had been this calm and easy-going with my first child! They are happy, which you will see below...and very lucky.

I was a bit concerned Avery would be upset with me for pulling him away from the Vikings game for our Sunday session, (after all, he is a football player), but he was a great sport as we explored the sculpture garden and surrounding area. Vikes are still undefeated, although Avery would agree we missed an exciting 4th quarter!

I really enjoy photographing seniors and listening to their future endeavors. To think of all the endless opportunities at that age and what an adventure it is---choosing a school, where to live, a career path. So exciting! Good luck to you, Joe. I know you will do great things!

We started the session at Lurcat, because these two love to eat out and talk wine. Two of my favorite things! These two were troopers, ducking under trees to avoid the rain showers that kept bothering us. Congratulations on your engagement!

This adorable little guy is five weeks old, and the son of my friend, Molly. He is a cutie, and my kids kept saying his name over and over again for two days, they were so enthralled. We didn't get too much accomplished with two little ones constantly wanting to squeeze his hands and get their noses right in front of E, but here are a few.

I love to capture milestones, and a child's first tooth is such an adorable thing to photograph. So when I was photographing this family last weekend, it was close to Liam's first birthday, and he has the cutest two bottom teeth, among others growing in up top. These boys were all smiles during our session, even after the rain delay! Thanks to the H family :)

40 years

When my husband and I bought our first place, there was the discussion on whose stuff should go where, what to keep, what to throw, etc. I think a number of couples encounter this when moving in together. For us, the big dilemma was where to hang the Wayne Gretzky clock with the faux bark frame. I opted for the basement. (I think it's still down there.)

With Ken and Karen, married for FORTY years, I saw a similar situation. Not long ago Ken caught a fish somewhere in the Caribbean---and it now takes over an entire wall of their lake home. I think Karen has mixed feelings on this fish...but she loves her husband, so there it hangs. That fish is beautiful, especially compared to the Wayne Gretzky clock, and it taught me two things: 1) document the funny things in life, and 2) remember what's really important in a marriage! This couple obviously knows what works to keep a marriage strong. See below for pictures of their beautiful family, plus one fish.

When Paul first approached me to take pictures of him proposing, I must admit, I felt a bit odd, picturing myself hiding in the bushes like the paparazzi photographers, scaring the wits out of poor Tricia during such a romantic moment. It turned out to be the exact opposite, thanks to a good lens, a bit of help from Paul's friends and family, and a happy, relaxed couple!

(By the way, she said yes!)

can be shy at times, and it makes her all the more loveable. We had a good day, swinging in her backyard, visiting a nearby nature park and ending the session in downtown White Bear Lake. I got to hold her hand AND we even hugged at the end. She is a very sweet little girl.

I photographed this family about a year ago, and it's amazing how quickly time passes. We followed ducks along the creek, picked wildflowers and ran over the bridge about 30 times. It was great! Thanks guys!

I was fortunate enough to see these guys again! Kristina must feel outnumbered with four other boys in the house, because last December they added another girl to the group–a puppy–who didn't make it to the shoot. Next time! Plus, we also celebrated little L's birthday by allowing him to dive into a cake.

This morning we were outside, and I had to capture the serious moment of Dylan explaining to me how his cars were in danger because they fell into a hole. He is very passionate, creative, and sweet as sugar. He's a keeper.

I've known Karli for almost 10 years, and seeing her so grown up and beautiful now makes it difficult to remember the years when she was a cute little kiddo. She is very sweet and kind, and hopefully a future babysitter for us when she is ready!

So, when I first met Eric last summer, he introduced himself as "Eric." However, I was fortunate enough to travel to Aruba with these two and discovered he also answers to "Bob." Don't ask! It's a long story, but now in my head I refer to him as "EricBob," which I can't seem to kick. This extremely laid-back, thoughtful, romantic and loving couple were such a joy to photograph, not to mention the 40+ people who traveled to this beautiful destination to celebrate with them. Congrats you two, and thanks for trusting me to capture your wedding memories!

Fall is my favorite time of year, so it was a treat to follow this family because they live right on the creek! There were gorgeous trees and trails to work around, not to mention sock monkeys. Had I known these boys were fans, I would have sported my sock monkey slippers. Thanks to the C family!

It's easy for me to feel a close bond with this family: the kids are almost the exact same ages as mine! I spent the afternoon crawling around on their gorgeous living room rug, then we ran over to the park for a few outdoor shots.

...I have known since she was born, and I remember babysitting her and her siblings when I was barely a teenager. So there are quite a few stories–many I am too embarrassed to tell. Anyway, here she is, a successful mother of three beautiful boys with a husband I truly adore, despite his VERY dry sense of humor! I credit her as being one of the dear people who never gave up on convincing me I could photograph people for a living, so she is very dear to my heart and I know, despite our distance, we will remain close always. Thanks, K :)

I can't resist the blue eyes on these little ones! We met at Lebanon Hills on a very sunny day, and spent the morning exploring this beautiful park. My favorite photo is little E hiding out in the tunnel, which was BRIGHT yellow and created a funny yellow cast, but it works in black & white!

I wish I could hang out with Liam more often, but since his parents were rude enough to move from the twin cities a few years ago, I see him and his brothers only a few times each year. Sigh. At first glance, he is a very serious little boy. But get to know him and he'll share his smile with you.

It is amazing to me how powerfully expressive eyes are, which is immediately what I think of whenever I see this little one. Can't you imagine the boys drooling at the sight of those eyes and curls, the eyelashes that go on forever? I already pity the dear parents of her.

I have made some great friends through book club, Katy being one of them. Her husband and boys are as easy-going and as sweet as she is. What an easy photo shoot! We met at Katy's parents house and had a blast tearing around the yard in bare feet, (well, me at least) enjoying the sunshine.

Natalie and Eric are getting married this January. I was introduced to these two through my friend, Alyssa, and had a great time with them! We started out at Lake Harriet, and ended our session on the rooftop patio bar at Stella's, which is where they met. Looking at these pictures makes me smile–they are a great couple.

Kirsten and I used to work together at Fallon. Her girls are hilarious, and managed to get me on the trampoline, which I haven't done in over 15 years. I almost peed my pants jumping on that thing. Even though they admitted to fighting on occasion, I didn't believe it. I was there for over two hours and they were overflowing with giggles and hugs for each other.
